TRANSCENDENCE

Sergei Prokofiev’s piano concerto no.2 is one of the materpieces of piano concerto in the 20th century. However, the brilliance of this concerto was not recognized until recent years it became a testment to excellent piano skills, which is partly becasue the modernism embodied in the concerto was ahead of its time. This linear frame work is inspired by the second half of the section B of the 4th moverment (which is 4:00-5:17 of the version below), in which the rhythms of piano and symphony struggle to achieve a breakthrough in competition and collaboration.
